Four Seasons Courtyard Solar Flicker Candle Hanging Light
This charming solar-powered hanging candle light features an amber flicker LED for a realistic candle effect. Works for 8 hours on a full battery (requires 6 to 8 hours of sunlight for full charge). Features special internal frosted casing and lens casing that disperse light, plastic lantern housing with shepherd hook and ABS plastic ground spike. Uses crystalline, German solar cells for faster charge. Built-in light sensor automatically activates light at night. Lantern measures 5" square x 6.1" high. Stake measures 30.7" hight. Includes 1 "AA" nickel-cadmium rechargeable battery.

I found this on sale in a local TrueValue store and bought it on a whim. I've seen hundreds of different decorative "outdoor solar lights" in yards and never liked any of them. But this is different. It really does look like a flickering candle in a lantern - the color of the lamp is just right.
If I have any complaint about it, maybe it flickers a bit too much, like it's pretty windy outside. But I'm fussy. Actually I like it enough that I'm going to buy a couple more.
Pros: very realistic
Cons: none

Horrible hooks

The lights are what they are for the price. Plastic, inexpensive, but they work. The hooks are riduculous. I like the idea of adjustable height by section pieces but every one has either broken or is hanging over from the heat warping the plastic. Chuck the hooks and hang the lamps on something...anything else but the supplied hooks.
Pros: they work so far after 3 weeks
Cons: backyard decoration only., cheap
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I first found these enchanting lights several years ago at a local discount store, but when I went back to buy more, they no longer had them.
I have been searching online for several years, and when I saw them online at True Value, I was thrilled. Though they were not in a box set of 3, I was pleased to finally be able to purchase more for my backyard.
They provide the right soft amber flickering light of a candle lit lantern. I like the style of lantern and the beautiful accent light it gives my backyard at night.
I have bought other flickering lights, when I was unable to find this style, and they did not give that same soft amber flickering effect that these do. As soon as my order arrived from True Value I immediately removed the lights that had never measured up to the effect I was wanting in my backyard.

I found one of these in a True Value Hardware store, and then bought several more online here. They look exactly like candles flickering in lanterns. I've hung them in trees that are leafless in winter, and they've stood up to winds and snow. The snow keeps the solar panels from charging much, but as soon as it melts they're back in business. These are the most realistic solar candle lights that I've ever seen. Very pretty and serene.
Pros: realistic., tough enough to withstand bad weather., great price.
Cons: can swing off of their bales in a wind.

Great solar light--the light is more of a soft yellow, flickering glow--and not the stark white as in some solar candles. I bought 3 more now!

Solar Flicker Lanterns are Wonderful

I found the solar flicker hanging lantern in the newspaper insert at Chritmastime, 2010. I bought myself 17 for Christmas and put them out in the Spring, 2011. Having had several types previously, I was impressed by the look and the price. They have been wonderful all through the summer and are still working this Christmas 2011.
